Roy Pfister’s art style has been likened to impressionistic realism with a traditional approach. Although he specializes in graphite, pastel, and oil portraits, he has won many awards for his landscape paintings. His portraits of children capture the magic of childhood and each individual’s unique personality.
Mr. Pfister began drawing as a child and his ability has evolved into the skilled artist that is evident in his work today, notable in his graphite portraits.
He began his training at Tulane University, then attended New Orleans Academy of Art in the French Quarter and was trained under such noted teachers as John McCrady, Leonard Flettrich, and John Ambrose. His studies were interrupted by military service during the Korean conflict. He resumed his avocation in the late 1970’s and later began attending workshops and courses with various note artists. He did not begin exhibiting his work until 1987.
Since then, his reputation as an artist has grown nationally and his portraits and landscapes hang in the homes of many families throughout the United States and Europe.
